Stop Discounting Your Healing Work (Do this Instead)
For the healers in the room
You’ve done the deep work: all the training, the certifications, invested in your own inner healing. You know what it takes to hold space for transformation.
And yet, when it comes to pricing your services?
It gets sticky.
I was part of a conversation recently that I hear all too often: highly trained yoga therapists and other healing professionals talking about things like “buy 4 sessions, get 1 free” or offering complimentary sessions just to “get” clients.
And as I listened, I bristled inside—because I know how sacred your work is. These kinds of pricing strategies don’t reflect the depth of healing you offer. In fact, they do the opposite.
Let’s talk about why this happens, what it’s actually costing you, and how to shift into something that feels more grounded, sustainable, and true to your work.
The Scarcity Wound is at Work
When healers, coaches, or creatives discount their services, it’s often coming from fear—whether we realize it or not.
“If I don’t offer a deal, no one will come.”
“People won’t pay full price.”
“I don’t want to be seen as greedy.”
But here’s the truth: operating from this place of scarcity never leads to thriving. It leads to questioning your worth, attracting clients who are seeing a deal, not transformation, and worst of all, you are over-giving and underearning (which is a fast track to burnout.)
This isn’t your fault. You’re not doing anything wrong. We live in a culture that has devalued healing work and conditioned us to feel uncomfortable around money.
But staying in that place? Isn’t serving you, nor is it serving your clients.
Strategy #1: Honor the Deepening Value of Your Work
A friend and colleague, Michele Woodward, once shared something I now call the Deepening Value Principle: The longer you work with someone, the more value they receive—and your pricing can reflect that.
Think about it. Over time, your sessions become more powerful because you are developing a deeper understand of your client’s needs, you build on previous sessions, which supports deeper integration and, best of all, the therapeutic relationship itself becomes part of the healing. This is especially true for yoga therapists, energy workers, coaches, psychologists, and other practitioners whose work builds with consistency and trust.
So why would we devalue that with “buy more, get one free” strategies?
If this feels familiar and you’ve found yourself quietly questioning the value of your work or wondering how to price your services as the relationship deepens—you’re not alone. This is one of the exact shifts we work on together in Get Right with Money. You’ll learn how to price in alignment with the transformation you actually provide and in alignment with your values.
Strategy #2: Ditch the Discount Tactics
Here’s where a lot of folks get stuck: I know you want your work to be accessible. You care deeply. And so you think to yourself, “If I don’t offer discounts, am I turning people away who need this work?”
But let’s pause and separate two things:
Discount Culture:
“Buy 4, Get 1 Free” offers
Free full-length sessions to get a foot in the door
Limited-time flash sales
Competing on price instead of value
Community Care Pricing:
Sliding scale options based on genuine financial need
Scholarship spots for those who truly need them
Payment plans that support you and your clients
Intentional “pay what you can” models that are sustainable
Discount culture comes from fear, while community care comes from overflow.
If this is something you wrestle with—trying to balance your desire for your work to be accessible with financial sustainability—we explore this tension in Get Right with Money. Together, we look at how to build pricing models rooted in equity, clarity, and enoughness, so you can feel good about how you serve and how you're supported in return.
Strategy #3: See Your Work as Sacred, Not Standard
Healing work is not a commodity. It’s not yoga in a gym. It’s not advice you could Google. And it’s definitely not shampoo or coffee. So let’s stop using pricing tactics designed for retail products.
Your work is:
Responsive
Intuitive
Adapted to each person you serve
Rooted in lived experience, presence, and skill
When you use mass-market strategies, you undercut the real value of what you offer.
If you’ve ever caught yourself downplaying the depth of what you do—because pricing or money talk feels awkward—this is the exact kind of inner rewiring we do in Get Right with Money. We bring both nervous system work and practical money skills to the table so you can show up with integrity and confidence around your pricing.
You Might Be Wondering (Worrying)
“But what if no one buys unless I discount?”
I get it. This is such a common fear—and it makes sense, especially if you’ve been surrounded by others doing the same thing. But here’s what I want you to know:
When your pricing reflects your values, your impact, and your client’s true transformation, you will attract the right people. People who are ready. People who value you. People who want the real thing—not the cheapest option.
This takes clarity, practice, and sometimes, community — and that’s what Get Right with Money is for.
Here’s What’s Possible When You Do This Work
As you embody these concepts:
Embrace the Deepening Value Principle and you’ll see your work grows in power over time and your pricing can, too.
Ditch discount culture in favor of community care to grow your confidence in the truth that it is possible to honor access and your value.
Price your sacred work like it’s sacred. Because it is.
When you shift your relationship with money, you stop undercharging and you start showing up differently. And so do your clients.
You model what it looks like to honor your energy, your boundaries, and your magic. That ripple effect? It's profound.
