Choiceful Receiving

Choiceful-Receiving.png

Asking is a big deal for a lot of women.

And when I say big deal, I mean, a lot of women abhor asking for what they want. I note that If a woman has difficulty asking for what she wants, she will most certainly struggle with receiving.

If you are a woman who struggles with asking and/or receiving, if you are a woman who considers yourself a "giver" but you don't like to take from others or if you are a woman who is chronically underpaid or you don't have enough work coming to you...

Better Together.

Yogic practices saved my life.

My first asana class in my 20’s was like a homecoming to my body — that class (and a very skillful teacher) was the beginning of a journey of deeper healing and vitality that has continued to support my growth in unexpected ways. Though I still practice asana (the physical postures), it is the breathwork, inner contemplation, meditation, and mantra that I practice daily as pathways to center myself and find joy.

But yoga alone wasn’t enough.

Tending Your Energy in a Chaotic World

Tend-Your-Energy-First.png

“Before helping others, put on your oxygen mask.”

How often do we hear this common flight instruction tossed around as a metaphor? We nod and agree, and then often, go back to throwing ourselves under the bus, doing the same things over and over, wishing for a different result. So, let’s be honest: this instruction is hard in the day to day doing.

It’s no simple thing.

When I said goodbye to corporate accounting many years ago, I left behind 80-hour work weeks,...

The ongoing journey of self-worth

Worth-is-a-state-of-grace-that-resides-within-you.png

You were born with an intact sense of self.

However, early on, we are indoctrinated into ideas about worthiness that lead us to believe that worth is to be found outside of ourselves -- in how we are perceived and received by those around us: another’s assessment or gaze or our monetary value or the work we do or our beauty.

This focus on recognition is the air we breathe.

Consider gender bias, not to mention racial and sexual bias — consider all the ways society...

The Art of Intentional Practice

Practice gets a bad rap.

I've heard the gamut of responses to the idea of "practice"  -- from spiritual transcendence to athletic performance to dreadful, dull and boring repetitive action.

In actuality, you are practicing every moment of every day. Consciously or unconsciously, you are practicing your responses, your actions and your reactions. You are practicing your best and your worst qualities by simply doing what you do, over and over. This ultimately defines the quality of...

The Art of Dwelling in Worth

"I don't want to do my workout."

I woke up this morning and that was my first thought. Clara has been sick. I was sick. It was Clara's birthday. We are traveling next week. I'm in the middle of 2018 Medicine Visions. I'm preparing space for the women who are gathering for The School of Sacred Practice including answering questions, having chats and sharing my thoughts with women on why it matters to them.

My workout seemed like a royal pain in the ass that I definitely didn't have...

Love Made Visible

For the sensitive, empathic woman with Work to do.

I see the ways that you've pushed yourself out into the world to the point of exhaustion, I see the way that you've been cruel to yourself in the face of your own needs, I see the way that you've tried to bend your impulses and energy to the will of the world. I see how you continue to question yourself and what you know is true.

Take a deep breath.

Do you notice how profound the stress is in your body when you send a post or share an...

A prayer for walking through fire

I am barely settled.

One day up, one day down, most days sideways. A transcontinental move of epic proportions from Colorado to Zambia. I'm in it. I'm in the fire, facing the challenge of overwhelming change. This missive is for me as much as it is for you. A smoke signal rising from the ashes for those of us who are walking through the fire of challenge.

As I take one step and then the next through the fires of change, I'm reminded that there is a particular set of circumstances...

What the World Needs

Rise-Up-Sister.png

Beautiful woman. It's time.

Hey soul sister. Would you rather listen to me read this to you {5:21}

The world needs you in all of your glorious, authentic and unique power. What that means is you, fully present, full capacity, connected to the truth: you are powerful, you are loved, and you are a divine expression of all that is good and beautiful in the world. You, your business, your family, your community and the world needs you to embody this truth.

The whole of creation...
