Hot-Line to Clarity

"I feel so drawn to yoga. I can't explain it, really...."

These words spill out, like a secret told for the first time, from many of my clients and friends.  They may have a regular practice, or they've experienced yoga in a class once or twice, or maybe they've never done it before.  But the longing and desire is there, drawing their eye and nudging their heart to.... something. But what?

The rich experience of being in the body is calling.

I didn't have adequate words to describe my first yoga class.  The feeling of being here.  I mean really. here.  The exquisite sensation of being a human in this amazing body.  I recall lying in shavasana for the first time and it still brings tears of joy to my eyes. That moment, 16 years ago, set me on a course I could not have imagined then.  I now recognize that feeling, that siren song of longing that I felt, and that people now express to me.

Because to some degree or another, we are all socialized, conditioned, punished and, for some, abused and traumatized, into being a certain way, into holding certain beliefs, into taking action the way we are "supposed" to.  All of this can serve to move us further away from our essence by disconnecting us from our bodies.

Not being in the body means not being connected with your innate wisdom.

If we aren't really living in our bodies, we are not in the present moment.  If we are not in the present moment, we cannot be connected to our inner compass of natural wisdom.  So I can only nod in deep appreciation, as my clients move toward their calling, as they create a business that is built on a foundation of their own healing, they feel that longing to reclaim and align with their perfect, innate, wholeness.

It is no less than longing for the great love of your life: you.

This longing exists to invite you inside. To an experience of life that simply can't be understood through the thinking mind alone.  Our bodies process and hold felt sensations and emotions-  yoga helps us integrate those experiences and experience richer texture in our lives: not just through the thinking mind, but through the body, emotions, energy, and sensations.... the full deal.

The body is your hot-line to clearer expression in business.

Our minds are fickle.  "Wait, look at what she's doing... let's do that."  "Oooh, I should be doing that.  Everyone is."  "This is too hard.  I don't want to..." You know the storyline of the mind is a dead-end.  That longing to connect with your body is going to take you home - to authentic leadership of your life and your business.  To deep healing.  To a true expression of your calling in the world.

Are you heeding the call?

Namasté to you, business yoginis!

Beautifully said Nona. What you do from a yoga and business standpoint is absolutely inspired. It's helping me see that I've been missing so much relying on my mind alone (my go to process). Thanks for helping me get back into my body and heal and lead my life from a place of wholeness. Love Helen

"The rich experience of being in the body is calling." So true. Thank you for being a beacon of light calling us inward: connecting body to mind and spirit. We simply cannot leave one behind or allow one to be the ruler. I love you and your work, Nona Jordan.

Better late (commenting) than never? :) I read this post a couple days ago and have thought of it often since then. That happens with most of your posts, actually.... they stick with me. The mind/body connection continues to AMAZE me -- hard to believe how informative our bodies are until we stop and listen and actually experience the shift that happens when we give our bodies equal attention.

Thank you for keeping me especially aware of my body's wisdom this week.

xo!

Well, this is exactly what I needed to hear right at this moment. I've been wanting to start going to yoga class again, but am so out of shape I told myself I had to get in shape first. Now I see how silly that is. I just need to get back in touch with my body -- as soon as possible!

Thank you for the clarity.
