Not Quite Ready

I don't feel quite ready.

I need a little more training, or perhaps a PhD (maybe two), to really, really, really be ready.  I would rather dance around the issue when my friends ask me what direction my business is heading.  I am filled with excuses and the chatter of my mind about my essential state of lack.  Just one more class because who I am just... isn't.... quite... enough for what I am being pulled to do.

This is a lie.

It's a lie I didn't really know I was telling myself, and it's one I hear my clients telling themselves often... "I'm not ready..."

For me, this is a bald-faced, outright lie that keeps me from saying what I know to be true out loud and stepping up to do what I am here to do.  Because as I look back on what seems obvious now, everything in my life has led me here - the things that capture my deepest attention, my education, my background, my priorities, my strongest values... even the stuff I hated, that was painful, and I didn't want anything to do with ever again.  Yep, especially that stuff has added a tremendous depth to the message that I have for the world.

The Backstory.

My business coaching practice is successful - I've more than doubled my income every year I've been coaching, I work the number of hours I want (about 30 per week) and I love what I do.  My business is primarily referral based, so I know my clients get what they are looking for when they work with me.  I keep learning - by doing this work.  And, I have the great honor of continuing to support amazing women in their business ventures.

One of the biggest themes for almost all of my clients is their anxious relationship with money, feeling conflicted about the work they want to do, and their sense of their own value.  Some of them believe they aren't good with money, others believe there will never be enough money for them, and still others think that you simply cannot make a good income doing work you love - it MUST be hard.

Our legacies around money and work and worth drive our ability to do our work in the world the way we truly want to. It damages our ability to experience success, no matter what the income level. Surfacing these old stories and getting current with what is true provides a clarity and a lightness.  There is a feeling of being plugged into the truth of our experience - what we have the ability to create in our lives and businesses.

I did NOT want to admit that I work with women who are struggling in their relationship to money, work, and their worth. I had turned my back on finance and accounting and I was not interested thankyouverymuch.  I am a yogini, right?  But let's not forget that my own desire to make a good living doing meaningful work, to experience abundance, and to get right with money has driven my entire life for as long as I can remember. After all, I AM a Capricorn.

And we do tend to be here to teach the thing that we most need to learn.  (to read more about my own struggles with money, you can read this letter I sent to reach out to my list for the class I'm currently teaching.)

And I am ready.

Despite the fact that I am still working to unwind all of MY legacy beliefs around worthiness and money, I am, in fact ready.  I know this because I'm already doing it, it's natural to me, and, I can see clearly that my life has conspired to get me here. When I start to feel that not quite enough feeling, I remember that my best teachers and coaches are the ones that are doing their own work, they are just a little bit ahead of me.  As my friend, Laurie Foley says, "We don't have to light up the entire world, we just have to carry the flashlight".

Are you ready to pick up your flashlight?

We need lots of light bearers right now. We can't afford lies and modesty and 'not quite ready'. Believe me when I tell you, you are enough, you have everything you need, and it's all there, right in front of you.  Your people are waiting for your message.  Pick up your flashlight and walk tall.

See you on the trail.
